Frequently Asked Questions

How should you choose a therapist?

Research has shown that your relationship with your therapist is most instrumental in successful outcomes. Therefore, I strongly recommend you interview your potential therapist over the phone and then ask yourself whether you felt connected, heard, understood, and supported. Many of my clients report feeling relief after the first phone call.

How will therapy help me?

Challenging life experiences can be transformed into manageable solutions. Therapy can transform painful memories and hurt into a life of purpose.

Therapists can also help you:

  • Understand yourself; your emotions, thoughts and behaviors

  • Provide support and problem solving skills.

  • Improve communication and listening skills.

  • Discover new ways to solve problems in your marriage, family and relationships

  • Improve your self-esteem and confidence

  • Stop self-destructive behaviors

  • Get relief from painful emotions

  • Gain greater control over your life

What can I expect during my first session?

I will invite you to share your story and ask you what your goals are

for seeking my help. We will work together in a collaborative, comfortable setting to discover what obstacles you are struggling with.

How long will therapy take?

It will depend on your goals.  It can take as little as a few weeks to months. What is most important is for you the client to ask yourself if you are feeling better, stronger and more stable?  Have you reached your goals for seeking therapy? Answering these questions for yourself and collaboratively with me will help you decide when therapy is complete.

Do you take insurance?

I’m not affiliated with any health insurance plan. However, if you’d like to use your PPO benefits to cover a portion of out-of-network counseling, I’m happy to provide you with a superbill statement that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. I’d suggest inquiring about your specific benefits with your insurance carrier.

$150 is my standard fee for an individual 1-hour session & $175 for a couples 1-hour session.

How do I get started?

I would first encourage you to call me for a free phone consultation.  If you feel comfortable and confident with me, we can then set an appointment.
